Greater Noida:
In a major crackdown on illegal construction, the Greater Noida Authority, in coordination with the police, carried out a large-scale demolition drive in the Haibatpur area on Wednesday. Approximately 6,000 square meters of unauthorized construction in the Hindon floodplain zone were razed using bulldozers.
The action was jointly conducted by the Project Department and Land Records Department of the Authority. Officials revealed that illegal colonizers were attempting to develop an unauthorized residential colony by plotting the land without obtaining mandatory approvals.
ACEO Sumit Yadav stated that the demolition was carried out in compliance with directions issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to prevent encroachment in the Hindon river floodplain area. He warned that any construction carried out without approved layout plans or official permission within the notified area would invite strict action.
“The Authority will continue its drive against illegal constructions. People are advised not to invest their hard-earned money in colonies developed without approved maps,” the ACEO said.
The land involved falls under Khasra numbers 280 and 287, which are part of the Hindon flood zone and lie within the Authority’s notified area. Despite repeated warnings and attempts to halt the construction, the builders continued their activities, prompting the demolition.
The operation, carried out by Work Circle-3, lasted nearly two hours under the supervision of in-charge Rajesh Kumar Nim, Manager Rohit Gupta, and other officials, with police support ensuring law and order.
General Manager (Projects) A.K. Singh confirmed that the builders had ignored multiple notices issued by the Authority, leaving demolition as the only option.
The Greater Noida Authority has once again appealed to citizens to verify land ownership and approvals with the Land Records Department before purchasing any property to avoid financial loss and legal complications.
