Budaun Religion Conversion Case: FIR Filed Against Three After Delay of Three Days

Budaun, Uttar Pradesh: In a case that has sparked concern over alleged religious coercion, the Bisauli police finally registered an FIR three days after the incident. The case involves a Hindu family who reportedly faced pressure to convert to Christianity in exchange for promises of jobs and housing.

Despite the victim’s initial complaint, the police had earlier dismissed the matter as a personal dispute. However, following the viral spread of the incident on social media, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) ordered a formal investigation, leading to an FIR against three individuals.

Details of the Alleged Coercion

The incident took place in Gulab Bagh locality of Bisauli. According to the FIR, Soudan Arya, the head of the household, filed a complaint stating that a woman named Meena, reportedly sent from a local church in Bisauli Fort, visited his home.

The complaint alleges that Philip Das and his wife Martha Das, residents of Kanshiram Colony, instructed Meena to coerce the Arya family into converting to Christianity. The accused allegedly promised jobs and housing if the family accepted the new religion. When the family refused, threats were reportedly made, warning that their lives would be made difficult if they did not comply.

Pressure on Victim’s Wife

Soudan Arya stated that during his absence, the accused repeatedly visited his home and attempted to persuade his wife to convert, despite her continuous refusals.

FIR Registered

Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR against Meena, Philip Das, and Martha Das under relevant sections of the law. Authorities confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway, and further action will be taken based on evidence.
