
Dehradun, Uttarakhand: In a shocking incident in Dehradun, a young woman was brutally murdered. The accused allegedly severed her fingers before crushing her head with a stone. Police are actively searching for the suspect.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred in Dhalipur, Vikasnagar area, where the body of a 12th-grade student, identified as Manisha, daughter of Anand Singh of Boksa Basti, Devipur, was found on the night of 29 January. Local authorities and residents identified the victim after police arrived at the scene. The young woman’s head had suffered severe injuries.
According to initial reports, Manisha had gone out with her cousin Surendra, son of Chhota, also a resident of Boksa Basti, to collect medication from a hospital. When she did not return by late evening, her family began searching and later discovered her body in nearby bushes.
Father Files Complaint Against Suspect
Manisha’s father filed a formal complaint against Surendra, also known as “Mandu,” who is currently evading arrest. Police have recovered the suspect’s motorcycle and the axe allegedly used in the crime near the scene. Investigations revealed that the axe had been purchased two days prior, and the suspect had been carrying it on his motorcycle since then. The suspect’s family has confirmed the purchase of the axe.
Nature of the Crime
Police officials, including Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh, confirmed that the victim was attacked with both an axe and a stone. Her head and face bore severe injuries, and her fingers were severed. The family expressed deep grief and outrage over the brutality of the attack.
While the motive behind the murder remains unclear, police are conducting raids and examining CCTV footage in an effort to apprehend the suspect. Footage shows the accused refueling his bike on the Herbertpur-Dhalipur-Paonta road on the day of the murder.
Additional Details
Surendra reportedly used to take Manisha to the market occasionally. Blood stains were found on the bike’s handle, suggesting that the suspect may have attempted to start the motorcycle after the attack but abandoned it due to the lost ignition key in the darkness. Police hope that the motive will become clear once the suspect is apprehended.
Victim’s Background
Manisha was a class 12 student at Devipur Inter College. Her family works as laborers. Surendra, her cousin, is 24 years old and also works as a laborer. The young woman had a skin condition and had gone to obtain medication with her cousin, though it remains unclear whether she reached the doctor or not.
Police continue their search for the accused, and investigations are ongoing.
