Banda: On a day when the nation celebrated Republic Day, tragedy struck a family in Banda district, Uttar Pradesh. Anand Prakash Gupta (30) and his elder sister Chanchal Gupta (34), residents of Shastri Nagar, reportedly took their own lives under suspicious circumstances. The siblings’ bodies were discovered near the Bagai River, close to the Barcha Bridge.
According to police reports, both had consumed a poisonous substance. Preliminary investigations suggest the case is linked to family disputes and severe mental distress.
Background of the Dispute
Sources from the family and local residents revealed that Anand Prakash had leased a shop from his aunt. A prolonged legal battle had been ongoing to vacate the shop. Recently, the court ruled against Anand, compelling him to leave the premises. Fearing the loss of livelihood and devastated by the legal defeat, the siblings were reportedly overwhelmed by despair, leading them to consider death as their only escape.
