
Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking turn of events in Hamirpur district, the bride ran away from her home just before the wedding ceremony, leaving the groom and both families stunned. The incident took place after the mehndi ceremony, when preparations for the grand wedding were underway.
The bride’s sudden disappearance created panic among her relatives, and the groom’s family was equally taken aback. Both sides approached the Sumerpur Police Chowki on Friday, lodging allegations against each other. However, after the return of dowry-related exchanges, both families reached an amicable settlement, and the groom left the police station disappointed.
Details of the Incident
The wedding was planned in a village under Sumerpur police jurisdiction, with the baraat scheduled to arrive on Thursday. Families from both sides were busy with decorations, booking bands, and preparing a guest house for the celebration. The mehndi ceremony was successfully completed at the bride’s residence, with music and dance adding to the festivities.
A few hours later, the bride suddenly left her home. Relatives, shocked by her disappearance, conducted a thorough search. The groom’s family was informed immediately, leaving them stunned and concerned. The groom, accompanied by relatives, went to the Sumerpur police chowki, where both families were asked to present their case.
Settlement Reached at Police Station
After listening to both sides, the police facilitated the return of dowry exchanges, and the matter was settled amicably. According to Rajveer Singh, officer-in-charge of Sumerpur police chowki, the bride ran away from home, but no official complaint has been filed yet. With the settlement, the groom left the station, visibly disappointed.
