Bride Elopes With Lover Hours Before Wedding, Groom Waits in Temple Wearing Sehra

A dramatic incident unfolded in Bihar’s Banka district when a bride reportedly eloped with her lover just hours before her scheduled wedding, leaving the groom waiting helplessly at the temple with his sehra tied.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening, January 27, under the Shambhuganj police station area, triggering shock and chaos in the village where wedding preparations were in full swing.

According to sources, the marriage of a young woman from Shambhuganj was fixed with Amit Kumar, a resident of Raghunathpur in Munger district. Both families had completed all wedding arrangements, and the ceremony was scheduled to be held at the well-known Ulta Mahadev Temple in Tarapur.

Wedding Turns Into Chaos

At the scheduled time, the groom arrived at the temple along with the wedding procession. However, before the rituals could begin, the bride was reported missing. Later, it emerged that she had allegedly fled with her lover, Vikas Kumar, a resident of Chhathar village under the same police station limits.

As the news spread, panic erupted at the temple premises. The groom’s family claimed they were deceived, while the bride’s relatives began searching frantically for her.

Allegations of Abduction

The bride’s family later approached the Shambhuganj police station, alleging that the accused had lured the girl away under the pretext of marriage and kidnapped her.

Police Begin Probe

Confirming the incident, Shambhuganj Station House Officer Bablu Kumar said that the police have received verbal information so far.

“Once a written complaint is submitted, a formal case will be registered and legal action will be initiated. Necessary steps will be taken to trace and recover the girl,” the SHO stated.

Meanwhile, local residents claimed that the woman was already involved in a long-standing romantic relationship and had left voluntarily. They questioned why the marriage was arranged despite prior knowledge of the relationship.

The incident has left both families distressed, while police have intensified efforts to locate the missing woman and ascertain the facts.
