Bought for ₹5.2 Crore by RCB, Yet His Father Still Repays Loans: The Grit-Filled Rise of Mangesh Yadav

Chhindwara:
Behind the glitter and glamour of the Indian Premier League lies a story of sacrifice that defines the journey of 23-year-old cricketer Mangesh Yadav, who will don the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) jersey next season after being bought for ₹5.2 crore. His success is not just a personal triumph, but the result of years of relentless struggle by his father, Ram Avadh Yadav, a truck driver who dared to dream big for his son.

To support Mangesh’s passion for cricket, Ram Avadh took loans from friends and acquaintances, spending whatever little he earned on training fees, cricket kits, travel, and tournament expenses. Even today, despite his son’s entry into the IPL, he continues to repay those debts.

“I still owe money to some people who helped us when we needed it the most,” Ram Avadh said with quiet dignity. “But seeing my son reach this stage makes every hardship worthwhile.”

A Life of Simplicity Amid Sudden Stardom

The family’s humble circumstances remain unchanged. When reporters from The Times of India requested Mangesh’s photograph, his father replied honestly, “I have a very basic phone. I cannot send photos from it.” Ram Avadh still uses a simple keypad mobile phone, a stark contrast to the multi-crore contract his son has just secured.

Mangesh is the eldest of four siblings, with three younger sisters. The family lives in a rented house in Borgaan village, about 75 kilometres from Chhindwara town. Financial constraints forced Mangesh to discontinue his education after Class 10, but his commitment to cricket never wavered.

Celebration in the Village

As news of Mangesh’s IPL selection spread, Borgaan erupted in celebration. Neighbours, friends, and villagers gathered outside the Yadav family’s home to offer congratulations, turning the modest residence into a place of joy and pride.

“I am extremely happy to be part of the IPL,” Mangesh said. “I will give my best performance for my team.” His words reflect both gratitude and determination—a young man aware of the sacrifices made for his success.

A Story That Defines the Spirit of Indian Cricket

Mangesh Yadav’s journey—from a debt-ridden household to a ₹5.2 crore IPL contract—is one of the most inspiring stories of this year’s IPL auction. It highlights the unseen struggles behind sporting success and underscores how parental sacrifice, perseverance, and faith can transform dreams into reality.

In a league often associated with wealth and stardom, Mangesh’s story stands as a powerful reminder that true champions are shaped long before the spotlight finds them.
