Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Panic gripped three district courts in Chhattisgarh—Bilaspur, Durg, and Rajnandgaon—after anonymous emails threatened to bomb the court premises. The threats were sent to the official government email IDs of the courts, prompting an immediate security response.
Authorities quickly evacuated the court complexes, with judges, lawyers, staff, and visitors safely escorted out. Following the evacuation, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and dog squads began a thorough search of the premises. Despite extensive inspections lasting two to three hours, no explosives or suspicious objects were found in any of the courts.
Enhanced Security Measures Implemented
Although nothing was discovered, precautionary security measures have been strengthened across all three district courts. Additional security personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of the buildings and staff.
Cyber Cell Investigates Origin of Threats
The Cyber Cell is actively investigating the origin of the threatening emails, including whether they were sent from within India or abroad. Preliminary indications suggest the emails were intended to create panic, but authorities are treating the matter with the utmost seriousness.
Rajnandgaon SP Ankita Sharma stated that the threatening email was received on the court’s official government email ID and was sent via a VPN. Teams from other districts were also called in to assist with the investigation and search operations.
Authorities have urged the public not to panic while investigations continue, assuring that all necessary precautions are in place to prevent any threat to life or property.
