Bomb Threat on IndiGo Flight from Kolkata to Shillong, Handwritten Note Found in Toilet

Kolkata: Panic erupted at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday morning when a bomb threat was reported on an IndiGo flight bound for Shillong. The handwritten threat note was discovered by crew members in the aircraft’s toilet, prompting immediate security action.

Passengers Evacuated, Aircraft Secured

The flight, IndiGo 6E3074, scheduled to depart at 9:15 AM, was preparing for takeoff when crew members found the note inside the restroom compartment. Airport authorities swiftly evacuated all boarded passengers and moved the aircraft to an isolation bay for a thorough security check.

Intensive Security Inspection Underway

Officials confirmed that security agencies are conducting a detailed examination of the plane to ensure passenger safety. The boarding process was temporarily halted, and no suspicious materials have yet been reported.

Second Such Incident in a Month

This is the second such threat in the past month involving IndiGo flights. On 23 January, a similar handwritten bomb threat note was found in the toilet of an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Pune. That note was discovered only after the plane had landed in Pune, and subsequent checks by the bomb disposal squad cleared the aircraft. In the Kolkata incident, the note was discovered during boarding, allowing authorities to respond before departure.

Airport and security officials are maintaining high alert while the investigation continues.
