Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Authorities were put on high alert on Thursday after People’s University in Bhopal received an email threatening to blow up the campus with bombs allegedly containing cyanide. The message, sent to the official email of the university dean, prompted immediate evacuation of students, faculty, and staff.
According to university officials, the email warned that explosives had been planted across the campus and were scheduled to detonate at 12:15 PM. The message included religious slogans and instructed that all doctors and students be evacuated by 11:00 AM.
Following the threat, the university administration promptly evacuated classrooms, the OPD, and administrative buildings. Bomb disposal squads and dog units conducted a thorough search of the premises, checking all suspicious locations.
Police said they are conducting a technical investigation into the email to determine its origin, sender, and server location. Officials are also probing for any organizational links mentioned in the threatening message.
“This was treated as a serious threat to public safety,” a senior police officer said. “We are taking all necessary precautions while the investigation is ongoing.”
The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that safety protocols are strictly followed while authorities investigate the source and credibility of the threat.
