Patna: Panic broke out at Patna Civil Court on Monday after the court administration and the District Bar Association received a threatening email claiming that the court premises would be blown up. In response to the threat, the entire court complex was immediately evacuated, and security measures were tightened.
Threat claims RDX planted in judge’s chambers and washrooms
According to reports, the email sent to the Civil Court and the District Bar Association stated that four RDX explosives had been planted in the judge’s chambers and washrooms, which could be detonated remotely. The message created chaos among judges and lawyers, who rushed out of their chambers. Clients accompanying the lawyers were also evacuated from the premises.
Police launch search operation
Following the threat, Pirbahor police reached the court premises promptly. For security reasons, the court was temporarily closed, and no outsiders, prisoners, or witnesses were allowed inside. The police, assisted by a dog squad, conducted a thorough search of every corner of the court complex. Fortunately, no explosives have been found so far.
Third threat in a month
This marks the third bomb threat targeting Patna Civil Court in the past month. Earlier, similar threats were reported on January 8 and January 28. Each time, the emails appear to have been sent to spread fear among court staff and visitors.
