Patna, Bihar: The audacity of criminals in Bihar shows no signs of waning. In a daring overnight robbery in the capital city, thieves broke through the wall of a jewellery shop and made away with jewellery worth several lakhs. Shockingly, the culprits also stole the CCTV DVR, erasing any record of their crime.
The incident occurred in the Patut Chowk area under the Rani Talab police station jurisdiction. According to police sources, unidentified thieves smashed the rear wall of the shop and looted gold and silver ornaments. The brazen act has left local shopkeepers on high alert.
Gold, Silver, and Wedding Jewellery Targeted
Shop owner Rajneesh Kumar told police that he had closed the shop on Friday evening as usual and returned home. On Saturday morning, villagers noticed that the back wall of the shop had been broken and informed the owner immediately. Upon opening the shop, the scene inside left everyone shocked.
The thieves made off with silver anklets, bangles, coins, rings, as well as gold chains, earrings, nose pins, and other precious jewellery. With the wedding season in full swing, many pieces had been prepared for customer orders, which were now gone.
CCTV DVR Also Stolen
Displaying meticulous planning, the thieves removed the shop’s CCTV DVR to hide their identities. All lockers and locks inside the shop were found broken. The Rani Talab police rushed to the scene and began investigating the crime.
Forensic experts and fingerprint specialists have been called in to collect evidence. Police confirmed that CCTV footage from nearby areas has revealed some suspicious individuals. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the culprits soon.
“We received the report on Saturday morning and immediately reached the site. The FSL team is collecting evidence. CCTV footage from surrounding areas has shown some suspicious faces. Their identification is underway and we hope to make arrests shortly,” said Bittu Kumar, Officer-in-Charge, Rani Talab Police Station.
