Ashoknagar, MP: A tragic family dispute over land in Karaiya Banet village under Rajpur police jurisdiction left three dead and several others injured, plunging the community into mourning.
Land Dispute Turns Deadly
The conflict arose between two brothers, Rajmahendra Yadav and Krishnabhan Yadav, over the use of their father Khilaan Yadav’s land. On Wednesday afternoon, the disagreement escalated into violence. Khilaan Yadav and his nephew Pawan Yadav were killed at the scene, while five others sustained injuries. During transportation to Bhopal for medical care, Krishnabhan Yadav, the younger son, also succumbed to his injuries.
Multiple FIRs and Accusations
The Kachnar police have registered cases against eight individuals from both sides of the family, including the deceased.
- Rajmahendra Yadav filed an FIR against Krishnabhan Yadav, Pawan Yadav, Chutta Yadav, and Kalla Yadav under Sections 103(1), 109(1), 115(2), 296, 3(5) BNS.
- In a counter-complaint by Radhika Yadav, cases were registered against Rajmahendra Yadav, Rajveer Yadav, Dharmveer Yadav, and Khilaan Yadav under the same sections.
The police have also listed the deceased — Khilaan Yadav, Krishnabhan Yadav, and Pawan Yadav — as accused in the ongoing investigation, highlighting the complex nature of the family feud.
Funerals Amid Fear and Silence
The funerals of the father and son were conducted on Thursday morning and evening, respectively, under police supervision. Due to fear and tension in the area, villagers and most relatives did not attend the ceremonies. Only a few family members were present. The nephew, Pawan Yadav, was cremated separately in his native village Mahua Kheda.
This incident underscores the escalating risks of family disputes over land in rural areas, often leading to tragic outcomes and widespread fear among communities.
