Bizarre Heist in Bhopal: Thieves Feed Meat to Guard Dogs Before Looting Lawyer’s Home

Bhopal: In a first-of-its-kind robbery in Bhopal, eight masked thieves executed a meticulously planned heist at a lawyer’s residence by feeding meat to the guard dogs, effectively neutralizing the pets before entering the home. The thieves then scaled the walls one by one and carried out a massive loot.

Incident Details
The incident took place in the upscale Suraj Nagar colony on Airport Road. Advocate Akhilesh Shrivastava and his family had traveled to Indore for medical treatment, leaving their house unattended. Taking advantage of the situation, eight masked robbers entered the house by climbing over the boundary wall. The thieves broke locks, ransacked rooms, and made away with cash totaling approximately ₹18 lakh along with gold and silver jewelry of high value. The entire operation was captured on the house’s CCTV cameras, which also feature audio recording.

Dogs Neutralized Before the Heist
Shrivastava’s home had two guard dogs of the Doberman breed, known for alerting the household to intruders. According to preliminary investigations, the robbers lured the dogs with meat, possibly laced with sedatives, which caused the dogs to stop barking. This clever tactic allowed the thieves to enter the home without raising alarms.

Well-Prepared Robbers
Police officials believe that the robbers had detailed knowledge of the house layout and security arrangements. The heist occurred between 1:15 AM and 3:45 AM on the night of 25–26 December, a period when police patrolling was minimal in the area. The following morning, the household staff discovered the ransacked home and alerted the authorities.

Investigation Underway
The Kohefiza police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. With the high-quality CCTV footage available, officials are confident of identifying and apprehending the perpetrators soon. Authorities are also examining other nearby cameras to trace the robbers’ movements.

A First in Bhopal
This is reportedly the first recorded case in Bhopal where thieves deliberately distracted guard dogs with meat to gain access to a home. The daring method, combined with meticulous planning, has shocked residents and police alike.
