Biryani Dispute Turns Violent in Narmadapuram: BJP Leader’s Cousin Injured, Shopkeeper Detained

What began as a late-night craving for chicken biryani turned into a violent altercation at a food stall in Narmadapuram, leaving a customer injured and the shopkeeper in police custody. The dispute reportedly erupted over an extra chicken leg piece at a biryani centre near the old bus stand on Sunday night.

The injured customer has been identified as Akhilesh Shivhare, a resident of Balaganj, who is also the cousin of a local BJP leader. According to police sources, Shivhare had visited the biryani stall late at night and requested an additional chicken leg piece with his order. The shopkeeper, Hasim Ali, demanded an extra ₹10 for the same, to which Shivhare agreed and paid with a ₹500 note.

However, tensions flared when the shopkeeper later claimed that the chicken leg pieces were no longer available. When Shivhare asked for his extra money to be returned, a heated argument broke out between the two.

Attack with Hot Utensil and Sharp Object

During the altercation, Hasim Ali allegedly picked up a hot utensil and a sharp object and attacked Shivhare. As a result, Shivhare sustained a cut on his cheek and burn injuries on his palm while trying to protect himself. The sudden violence caused panic at the crowded food stall, drawing the attention of nearby customers and passers-by.

Police officials said the situation escalated rapidly due to the verbal exchange, ultimately leading to physical assault. Both parties were taken to the police station for questioning following the incident.

Police Action

The police have taken the shopkeeper, Hasim Ali, into custody and initiated further legal proceedings. An investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and to register appropriate charges based on the injuries sustained and witness statements.

The incident has sparked local discussion over rising instances of minor disputes turning violent in public places, particularly late at night, highlighting concerns over public safety and conflict management at crowded food outlets.
