Bijapur Encounter: Security Forces Clash with Naxals, One Maoist Killed

Bijapur, Chhattisgarh: A fierce encounter broke out today between security forces and Naxals in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. In the operation, one Maoist was killed and explosives were recovered from his possession.

According to initial reports, security personnel launched an operation in the southern region of Bijapur following intelligence inputs about the presence of armed Maoists. Both sides engaged in intermittent gunfire starting at around 7:30 AM.

Teams on a Search Operation
Joint security teams had set out for a search operation in southern Bijapur. During the operation, gunfire erupted between the forces and the Maoists. Security officials said the troops responded decisively to the Maoists’ attacks while continuing to search the area.

One Naxal Neutralized
So far, one Naxal has been confirmed dead, though his identity has not yet been established. An AK-47 rifle was recovered from the Maoist’s possession. The security forces are continuing a thorough search of the area. Officials said detailed updates will be provided once the operation concludes.

Bijapur: A Naxal-Hit District
Bijapur district is known to be a Naxal-affected area. Security forces have been actively conducting operations, targeting top Maoist leaders in the Bastar region. Continuous surrenders by Naxals have put the Maoist organization on the back foot. The Ministry of Home Affairs has set a target to eliminate Naxalism from the region by March 31, 2026.
