
Patna, Bihar: The first session of Bihar’s newly formed 18th Legislative Assembly will be held from December 1 to December 5, 2025. The session will commence with the swearing-in of newly elected legislators, followed by the election of the Assembly Speaker and the presentation of the Governor’s address and grant-related legislative business. The Cabinet has given in-principle approval for the session schedule.
First Session of the 18th Assembly
The inaugural session of the 18th Assembly will begin on December 1, when all newly elected members will take their oath of office. The election of the Assembly Speaker is scheduled for December 2, a critical constitutional process necessary to facilitate the smooth functioning of the House.
On December 3 at 11:30 AM, a joint session of the Bihar Legislature will be held in the Assembly Central Hall, during which the Governor will deliver the address, outlining the new government’s agenda and policy priorities. Copies of the Governor’s address will be placed on the Assembly table, and details of grant expenditures will also be presented on the same day.
Final Days of the Session
On December 4 and 5, discussions will take place on the vote of thanks to the Governor’s address, and the government will respond to members’ observations. Subsequently, voting on grant expenditures and the introduction of related bills will be conducted, completing the session’s legislative agenda.
