Hasanpur Voting Live 2025: Polling is underway on the Hasanpur Assembly seat in Bihar’s Samastipur district, with voting having begun at 7 a.m. and scheduled to continue until 5 p.m. The seat, part of the Khagaria Lok Sabha constituency, is witnessing an intense three-way contest between JDU’s Raj Kumar Rai, RJD’s Mala Pushpam, and Jan Suraaj Party’s Indu Devi (Gupta).
In the 2020 elections, RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav had defeated Raj Kumar Rai by a margin of 21,139 votes, but this time, Tej Pratap is not in the fray—he is contesting instead from Mahua on a JJD ticket. Raj Kumar Rai, who had won Hasanpur in 2015, is once again banking on Nitish Kumar’s development plank and the EBC-Dalit vote base to reclaim the seat.
The RJD, on the other hand, is counting on Mala Pushpam to consolidate the M-Y (Muslim-Yadav) equation, while also attempting to leverage Tej Pratap’s popularity among local voters. Meanwhile, the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, is presenting Indu Devi as a fresh and reformist alternative in the state’s traditional political turf war.
The results, scheduled for November 14, are expected to reflect the mood of the electorate and serve as a barometer for the future political alignment in Bihar. Key issues dominating the Hasanpur polls include development, unemployment, and migration, making this contest not just about candidates, but about the direction in which voters want the state to move.
