Rohtas (Bihar): Independent candidate Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh, has levelled serious allegations against the police, accusing them of harassment and pressuring her to withdraw from the Karakat Assembly seat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
In a video shared on social media late Sunday night, Jyoti Singh claimed that police officers arrived at her residence around midnight and harassed her and her campaign manager for nearly four hours. Standing in front of a police vehicle, Jyoti is seen confronting the officers, questioning,
“How can you come here without a woman constable? Why are you harassing my manager? What have we done wrong?”
‘People of Bihar Must Give Justice with Their Votes’
Sharing the video online, Jyoti Singh wrote,
“People of Bihar, now it’s your turn to respond through your votes. I seek justice from you all — especially from the mothers and sisters of this state.”
The post quickly went viral, with hundreds of comments pouring in. Many users expressed support for Jyoti, hailing her courage. One wrote, “Nari Shakti Zindabad! You will definitely win.” Another commented, “They try to intimidate a lone woman, but you must not be afraid.”
Earlier Controversy Over Election Ticket
Jyoti Singh filed her nomination as an independent candidate from Karakat after widespread speculation that she might receive a ticket from Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, which eventually did not happen. Her political move had earlier sparked a public dispute with her husband, Pawan Singh, who accused her of using the election for publicity.
Personal Life Often in Headlines
Beyond politics, Jyoti Singh has frequently been in the media spotlight for her personal life. In a past interview, she revealed that her marriage to Pawan Singh was not her personal decision but one made by her family. She also stated that she had “many unanswered questions” before the marriage that were “never addressed.”
As the video continues to trend across social platforms, the controversy adds a dramatic twist to the Karakat election battle — blending politics, celebrity, and allegations of misuse of power just weeks before Bihar goes to the polls.
