Nalanda (Bihar): In a remarkable display of dedication and courage, Rashmi Kumari, the Deputy Collector (Land Reforms) of Hilsa Subdivision, continued to perform her election duties even while experiencing labor pain. Only after ensuring that all EVMs were safely deposited in the strong room, did she allow herself to go to the hospital — where she soon gave birth to a healthy baby girl, affectionately called ‘Lakshmi.’
Duty Above Pain: The Spirit of True Service
Despite being in the final stage of her pregnancy, Rashmi Kumari showed extraordinary commitment during the Bihar Assembly Elections. She was responsible for supervising 390 polling stations in the Islampur Assembly constituency, a task she completed with precision and composure.
“I was aware that my delivery date was near,” Rashmi said modestly, “but this was the festival of democracy. I didn’t want my personal situation to affect the administration or the polling process. Pain was secondary — duty came first.”
From Polling Booths to the Maternity Ward
After the polling concluded, Rashmi ensured every EVM was accounted for and safely transported to the collection center at Nalanda College, Bihar Sharif. Only after completing this crucial task did she proceed to the hospital, where she gave birth to her baby girl — a moment that beautifully symbolized the union of motherhood and service.
An Inspiration Across Bihar
Rashmi’s determination has earned widespread admiration from the district administration, her colleagues, and citizens alike. Officials have hailed her as a role model for public service and a living example of what it means to uphold duty with integrity and devotion.
Her story stands as a shining reminder that when commitment and compassion unite, even the most challenging circumstances can be transformed into moments of triumph.
A Mother. An Officer. A Symbol of Strength.
In an era when many seek excuses to evade responsibility, Rashmi Kumari has set a new standard for dedication in public life. Her courage and sense of duty have not only honored the spirit of democracy but also redefined what it means to serve the nation — with both heart and soul.
