Patna/Noida: Following the two-phase voting of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, exit polls have started to paint a picture of the likely outcome. According to Manoj Kumar Singh, Director of Matterize, the polls show that the NDA is poised for a potential victory, while the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) appears to have lost ground. Singh identified three key reasons behind this trend.
1. Jan Suraj Party Split Mahagathbandhan Votes
Singh explained that the newly emerging Jan Suraj Party primarily drew votes away from the Mahagathbandhan, rather than the NDA. “This election was fought around the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,” he said. “As a result, NDA stands to benefit, and the prospects of Nitish Kumar returning as CM are strong.”
2. Women Voters Favored NDA
According to Singh, women voters in Bihar turned out in higher numbers, often aligning with Nitish Kumar and the NDA. He highlighted that women’s participation played a significant role in tilting the balance in NDA’s favor in key constituencies.
3. Internal Conflicts and Rahul Gandhi’s Absence
Singh pointed out that the Mahagathbandhan suffered due to internal infighting and the perceived lack of visibility of Rahul Gandhi during the campaign. These factors contributed to weakening the alliance’s overall appeal.
Singh emphasized that exit polls are not final election results, and the actual formation of the Bihar government will only be clear on 14 November 2025.
