Bihar: Wedding Celebration Turns Tragic as Youth Shot During DJ Dance in Gopalganj; Condition Critical

Gopalganj: A joyous wedding celebration in Mathia village of Gopalganj district took a tragic turn on Sunday night when 21-year-old Sunil Kumar was shot in the abdomen during a DJ dance performance. The young man sustained serious injuries and was rushed from Gopalganj Sadar Hospital to Gorakhpur for advanced medical care, where his condition remains critical.

Incident Details
The incident occurred during a wedding procession at the house of Bittu Sah in Mathia village. Sunil Kumar, son of Shivnath Ram from the same village, had gone to watch the neighboring wedding celebration. According to eyewitnesses, Sunil was dancing along with other guests and local youth when gunfire suddenly erupted. The bullet struck him in the stomach, causing panic and bloodshed at the venue. The shooter fled the scene under the cover of darkness.

Immediate Response
Local residents immediately transported the injured Sunil to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital. Considering the severity of his injuries, doctors provided primary treatment and referred him to Gorakhpur for specialized care. Authorities reported that Sunil is currently battling for his life.

Police Investigation
The Gopalganj police reached Mathia village promptly after receiving information about the incident. Initial reports suggest that the shooting may have been a case of celebratory firing gone wrong. However, the identity of the shooter and the motive remain unclear. No arrests have been made so far as the investigation continues.
