
Patna: After a month of bone-chilling cold that forced residents to stay tucked in their beds, Bihar is finally seeing a respite. Sunshine over the past four days in Patna, Aurangabad, Gaya, and several other districts has brought relief, though a persistent chill still lingers indoors during the afternoons.
According to the latest update from the Meteorological Department, the state’s minimum temperatures ranged between 7°C and 12°C. Aurangabad recorded the lowest at 7°C, while Forbesganj experienced the highest minimum of 12°C.
7-Day Forecast by Patna Meteorological Centre
The Patna Meteorological Centre issued its latest update on Wednesday afternoon, predicting dry weather across the state for the next seven days. Moderate to dense fog is expected in many areas over this period. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain steady for the next 2–3 days, followed by a gradual rise, while minimum temperatures are also expected to show little change in the short term.
Southern Bihar Outlook
The cold spell is easing, with southern districts including Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Sheikhpura, Buxar, Bhojpur, and Bhagalpur expected to experience maximum temperatures between 22°C and 24°C until 20 January 2026. Minimum temperatures will hover between 8°C and 12°C.
Northern Bihar Outlook
In northern Bihar, districts such as West and East Champaran, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Supaul, Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, Saharsa, and Madhepura will see maximum temperatures ranging from 20°C to 26°C, while minimum temperatures are forecast to remain between 8°C and 12°C over the next week.
Despite the easing of extreme cold, foggy mornings and a lingering chill are expected to continue in several districts, reminding residents that winter has not completely loosened its grip.
