Bihar Weather Alert for January 28, 2026: Rain, Strong Winds, Cold, and Fog Expected Across 25 Districts

Patna: The Bihar Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain, strong winds, and dense fog across 25 districts on January 28, 2026. The state is expected to experience cold weather due to western winds, with scattered rainfall and fog forecast over the next few days. Citizens have been advised to take necessary precautions.

According to the weather department, northern and northwestern districts—including West Champaran, East Champaran, Siwan, Gopalganj, and Saran—may witness thunderstorms, lightning, and winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h. Dense fog is expected in parts of north, northwest, and southwestern Bihar on January 29–30, which may reduce visibility and disrupt road and rail traffic. Earlier, in Gaya, visibility had dropped to 300 meters due to fog. Travelers are advised to exercise caution.

Temperature fluctuations are also expected in the coming days. Maximum temperatures are likely to drop by 2–4°C, while minimum temperatures may rise by 2–4°C, keeping the overall range between 12°C and 26°C. Overnight and morning chills may be felt more in some areas due to the temperature variations.

The rain alert covers districts including West Champaran, East Champaran, Siwan, Saran, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Shivhar, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia, Katihar, and parts of southwestern Bihar such as Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabhua, Aurangabad, and Arwal. Other districts are expected to experience mostly clear skies.

Safety measures advised by the department include staying indoors during thunderstorms, avoiding tall trees and electric poles, securing vulnerable structures against strong winds, and farmers planning agricultural activities based on current weather conditions.
