Darbhanga, Bihar: In a heartbreaking incident in Darbhanga district, a mother ended her life after failing to get justice for her son’s death. Manisha Kumari, mother of Kashyap Kumar, consumed poison late on Tuesday and later succumbed despite treatment at DMCH.
Son Found Dead in School Hostel
Three months ago, Kashyap Kumar, a student at Mount Summer School in Laheriasarai, was found dead in the hostel, hanging from a ceiling fan. The incident was initially treated as a suicide. However, Manisha Kumari strongly believed her son had been murdered and had been demanding a thorough investigation ever since.
Desperation Over Denied Justice
According to her brother, Shivshankar Kumar Sah, Manisha had tirelessly approached the SSP and DIG seeking justice for her son. Frustrated by the lack of action and growing mental distress, she reportedly consumed poison (sulphur-based) at her parental home in Bhatiyari Sarai. She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save her.
Family members and local residents allege that timely intervention or decisive action could have prevented this tragic outcome. The incident has left the community in shock and anger, with growing calls for a full investigation into both the son’s death and the circumstances that led to Manisha’s suicide.
Systemic Failure Questioned
RJD leader and social activist Umesh Sahni condemned the inaction, stating that Manisha’s plea for justice went unheard. He criticized the authorities, calling her death a stark failure of the system.
