Bihar to Transform Government Offices, Over ₹30 Crore Allocated Per Block

Patna: The government of Bihar has initiated a major plan to revamp the state’s administrative offices. Under this initiative, new office complexes will be constructed in all 240 blocks (prabhands) across the state, with each block receiving over ₹30 crore for the project.

According to the Department of Building Construction, the plan aims to strengthen the administrative infrastructure by constructing new block-cum-subdivision office buildings along with residential complexes. In addition to the 240 new block-cum-subdivision office buildings, 59 blocks will have special office-cum-residential complexes.

Funding and Progress
For the construction of block-cum-subdivision office and residential complexes, a budget of ₹30.74 crore per block has been approved. For replacing old office buildings with new ones, ₹16.62 crore per block has been sanctioned.

The construction is underway in various divisions: 14 office buildings in Gaya, 13 in Chapra, 12 in Begusarai, 11 each in Bhagalpur and Motihari, and 10 each in Ara, Bettiah, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Purnia.

Modern Facilities in New Buildings
The new administrative buildings (G+2) will house offices for the Block Development Officer (BDO), Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), and other block-level officials. Facilities will include modern conference halls, RTPS counters, canteens, and record rooms. The complexes will also provide residential facilities for the BDO, SDO, and staff.

Additionally, solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of these buildings to ensure energy efficiency and reduce electricity costs.

Special Complexes and Implementation
Department Secretary Kumar Ravi stated that construction has already begun on more than 200 block-cum-subdivision office buildings, while the tendering process for the remaining buildings is underway. He emphasized that all projects are being executed with high quality and speed, under continuous monitoring from the headquarters. Engineers, contractors, and site engineers have been provided training to ensure quality construction.

Some locations face site-specific challenges, but these are being addressed to ensure timely completion of all buildings.

With these developments, Bihar aims to modernize its administrative infrastructure and provide state-of-the-art facilities for officials and staff across the state.
