Bihar to Get High-Tech Railway Stations; Third and Fourth Lines Between DDU and Jhajha to Be Built at ₹17,000 Crore

Patna: Bihar’s railway infrastructure is set for a major transformation. The central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a massive investment plan to elevate the state’s railway network. The latest budget allocates substantial funds for new rail lines, terminal construction, and modernization of existing stations.

Under this initiative, a third and fourth line will be constructed between Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (DDU) and Jhajha at a cost of ₹17,000 crore. This expansion will enhance train speed and reduce congestion on the busy Delhi–Howrah route.

Modern Terminal for Patna

A new railway terminal is coming up at Harding Park, Patna, with an allocation of ₹500 crore. Once operational, it will ease pressure on Patna Junction and provide world-class facilities for passengers.

New Rail Lines for Regional Connectivity

Addressing long-standing demands of Bihar residents, the government has expedited the Bihiya–Aurangabad new railway line project. The project will be completed in two phases: first, Bihiya to Anugrah Narayan, and second, to Aurangabad.

Additionally, a 25.10 km line from Nawada to Pawapuri has been approved with ₹492.14 crore funding. This line will directly connect the Jain pilgrimage site of Pawapuri to the railway network, improving accessibility for pilgrims and tourists.

Station Redevelopment under ‘Amrit Bharat’ Scheme

The government has also announced the redevelopment of major stations in Bihar under the ‘Amrit Bharat’ scheme. Stations at Gaya, Begusarai, Barauni, Darbhanga, and Madhubani, among others, will be modernized. Upgrades will include improved waiting rooms, hygienic restrooms, and high-level security, boosting both tourism and local commerce.

With these initiatives, Bihar’s railways are poised to enter a new era of modernization and efficiency.
