Bihar: Tiger Sightings Spark Panic Among Villagers and Farmers in Nawada; Domestic Animals Attacked

Nawada, Bihar: Fear has gripped villagers and farmers in Nawada district as repeated sightings of a tiger in the region have raised concerns about safety. The forest department team is struggling to locate the big cat, while locals report that the tiger has already attacked and killed a domestic animal, heightening anxiety among residents.

Tiger Roams Near Villages

The tiger has been spotted over the past week in the wild areas of Hardiya Panchayat, under Rajouli police station jurisdiction. Villagers from Navadih and Kosdariya report seeing the tiger near fields and forested areas, making it unsafe for farmers and locals to carry out daily activities. According to residents, the tiger has been prowling the village outskirts and targeting free-ranging livestock. Five days ago, a cow belonging to Parmeshwar Singh of Navadih village was attacked by the tiger, prompting a visit from the forest department team.

Forest Department Struggles to Act

On the morning of 14 December, the tiger was again sighted near the forests adjoining Navadih and Kosdariya. Villagers managed to drive it back into the forest. Residents allege that despite repeated sightings over five days, the forest department has yet to take effective measures to capture or relocate the tiger.

Fear Among Locals

The continuous presence of the tiger has created widespread panic in the villages. Women and children are afraid to step out of their homes, and farmers fear venturing into their fields. Villagers have appealed to the district administration and forest department for immediate and decisive action to prevent a potential tragedy.

Forest Department Ranger Narayan Lal Sevak stated that the team is making efforts to track the tiger, and local police are also monitoring the situation. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and cautious until the tiger is safely captured.

This incident underscores the urgent need for coordinated wildlife management and safety measures to protect both human and animal life in tiger-prone areas.
