Bihar Simplifies Land Registration: OTP No Longer Required, Booking Now via Mobile Number Alone

Patna: In a major step to simplify land transactions, the Bihar government has removed the mandatory OTP verification for land registration document bookings. The new rule is expected to streamline the registration process and save time for citizens.

OTP Verification Causes Delays
Previously, both the buyer and seller had to verify their identity through an OTP sent to their mobile numbers before a land document booking could be completed. However, frequent network issues and technical glitches often delayed OTP delivery, resulting in stalled bookings and long queues at registration offices. Citizens frequently faced problems due to late OTPs or system crashes, making the registration process cumbersome and time-consuming.

Booking Now Easier with Mobile Number
Under the new regulation, land document bookings can now be completed simply by entering the mobile number of the parties involved. The government anticipates that this simplification will speed up land registration procedures and reduce citizen complaints.

This reform is part of Bihar’s broader effort to make property transactions more efficient and citizen-friendly, eliminating unnecessary hurdles while ensuring transparency in the process.
