Saran (Chhapra), Bihar:
A shocking incident in Sonepur block sent waves of panic across the region on Friday evening when armed assailants shot dead a government school teacher at point-blank range. Police suspect an old personal dispute as the motive behind the killing.
Teacher Shot in the Head from Close Range
The victim, 40-year-old Arvind Kumar Singh alias Sanoj, a teacher at Gangajal Primary School and a resident of Khariyaka village under Pahleja police station, was returning home after school when he was ambushed near Kharika Devi Sthan.
According to eyewitnesses, two unidentified criminals on a motorcycle approached him and fired a bullet directly into his head from extremely close range. Sanoj collapsed instantly. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to Patna’s PMCH. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Residents described Sanoj as a calm, friendly, and well-respected teacher, and his brutal killing has left the entire village devastated and fearful.
Police Launch Investigation; Old Enmity Suspected
Immediately after receiving information, Pahleja Ghat SHO Anuradha Kumari reached the spot with a police team and sent the body for post-mortem. Police said no written complaint has been filed by the family yet, but multiple angles—including personal enmity—are being explored.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kumar Ashish also visited the crime scene. He stated that Sanoj was reportedly involved in a monetary dispute with someone, which may have led to the murder. “We are investigating all aspects. Raids are being conducted in nearby areas,” he said.
