Sunshine Adds to the Cheer in Patna

In Patna, intermittent sunshine on Thursday brought extra cheer to residents venturing outdoors. City parks, gardens, and tourist spots saw a significant surge of visitors eager to celebrate the new year.

Tourist Spots and Zoos Overflow with Visitors

The Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, often considered the ‘heart’ of Patna, witnessed heavy footfall, with families and children flocking to the zoo to welcome the New Year. To manage the crowd, the zoo administration opened additional counters and organized the premises to accommodate the influx of visitors. Other popular attractions, including Kumhrar Park, Veer Kunwar Singh Azadi Park, Naveen Park, Punaichak Park, and Shivaji Park in Kankarbagh, also saw a festive surge of attendees enjoying music, food, and outdoor fun.

Temple Crowds Mark Spiritual Start to 2026

Religious fervor was equally visible, with temples in Patna drawing large crowds of devotees. Early morning gatherings were seen at Mahavir Mandir near Patna Junction, as well as at Patandevi, Sheetla Mandir, and ISKCON Temple, where worshippers offered prayers to seek blessings for the New Year.

New Year’s Eve Festivities

On 31 December, hotels, restaurants, and public spaces across the city hosted lively celebrations. Colorful lights, energetic music, dance performances, and soulful musical shows set the tone for a festive night.

Midnight Celebrations and Fireworks

As the clock struck midnight, residents of Patna marked the start of 2026 with spectacular events and fireworks displays, particularly along JP Ganga Path and Dak Bungalow Chowraha. Echoes of “Happy New Year” filled the air as citizens celebrated with joy, marking the beginning of the year on a high note.
