Bihar Property Dealer Plotted Murder, But Rival Struck First

Sitamarhi, Bihar: A shocking twist unfolded in Sitamarhi when a property dealer, Ram Babu Rai, who was plotting to kill his rival, ended up becoming the victim himself. Police have revealed details of the case, exposing a web of premeditated crime and retaliation.

The Murder and Investigation
Ram Babu Rai was under surveillance by his adversaries for over a month before they finally executed their plan. On 3 January 2026, he was shot dead in Bhisa village of Dumra police station area, receiving three gunshot wounds. The case drew immediate attention due to the calculated nature of the attack.

Sitamarhi Superintendent of Police Amit Ranjan disclosed that a special police team, led by Sadar DSP, was formed to investigate the incident and apprehend the culprits. The investigation first led to the arrest of Manish Singh from Karwana, Surasand police area, whose mobile phone provided crucial evidence linking the suspects. This led to the capture of Lakhindra Kumar from Bariyarpur village and Chandan Kumar from Bhairokothi.

Weapon Provided by Accomplice
During questioning, Chandan Kumar confessed to providing the country-made pistol used in the murder. The three arrested suspects had conspired together, while other members of the group, including Shashi Rai, remain at large. Police confirmed that Lakhindra Kumar owns a mobile phone shop, and further raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Long-Standing Rivalry Turns Fatal
SP Amit Ranjan revealed that the murder was the culmination of a long-standing enmity between Ram Babu Rai and Shashi Rai. Both men had previously plotted against each other, but it was Shashi Rai who succeeded first. The case highlights the dangerous cycle of rivalry and retaliation that has erupted in the local property business.
