Bihar Police Seize ₹4 Lakh Worth of Illegal Liquor During Election Crackdown

Ara, Bihar: In a major success for the Excise Department’s crackdown ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, police seized a large consignment of illegal foreign liquor on the Buxar-Patna four-lane highway. Acting on a tip-off, authorities intercepted an unregistered Hyundai Creta car transporting liquor from Uttar Pradesh to Vaishali. The recovered stock was valued at approximately ₹4 lakh, totaling 259.92 liters (1,368 bottles).

Details of the Seizure
Under the supervision of District Magistrate Tanay Sultania, Excise Assistant Commissioner Rajnish received a confidential tip about the illegal transport. Inspector Prakash Chandra led a special inspection team to the site near Kayamnagar Overbridge (NH-922), in the Gidha police station area. During vehicle inspection, authorities discovered that the Hyundai Creta had no registration number. A thorough search revealed the illegal liquor.

Types and Quantity of Liquor Seized

  • 8 PM Special Bladet Scotch Whisky (180ml): 480 bottles
  • After Dark Blue Rare Grand Whisky (180ml): 576 bottles
  • Royal Stag Superior Whisky (750ml): 24 bottles
  • Choice Original Whisky (180ml): 288 bottles

The driver, Rahul Kumar (son of late Ramvriksh Rai, resident of Pakauli, Vidupur Police Station, Vaishali, Bihar), was arrested on the spot. He has been sent to court for further legal proceedings after completing necessary formalities.

Ongoing Election-Time Crackdown
The Excise Department and district administration have reaffirmed that strict operations against illegal liquor transport, storage, sale, and consumption will continue throughout the sensitive election period. The department assures complete confidentiality and promises prompt action on verified complaints.
