Bihar Police Launch Crackdown on Land, Sand, Liquor Mafia; “Road Romeo” Offenders to Be Targeted Too

Patna: The Bihar Police are gearing up for a large-scale crackdown on organized crime in the state, targeting land, sand, and liquor mafias as part of a major public safety drive. The action plan also includes stringent measures against “Road Romeo” offenders harassing women near schools and colleges.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced the initiative, emphasizing that the government is fully prepared to take decisive action against criminals. “The first targets are the land, sand, and liquor mafias. No one involved in these illegal activities will be spared,” he said. According to officials, 400 key criminals have already been identified, with their arrests expected soon, while an additional 1,200 names are under review for prosecution.

Statewide Surveillance and Court-Backed Action
Chaudhary stated that Bihar will be extensively covered with CCTV surveillance to monitor criminal activities and ensure immediate intervention. “No criminal will be able to escape this network. Following court orders, we will completely dismantle the operations of these mafias,” he asserted.

Cracking Down on Roadside Harassment
The campaign will also tackle harassment near educational institutions. Special forces will be deployed to prevent incidents of molestation or harassment, particularly targeting “Road Romeo” offenders, ensuring the safety of female students during school and college hours.

Legal Dossier Prepared
Earlier, Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar revealed that detailed dossiers of 400 high-profile criminals, documenting their illegal wealth and assets, have been submitted to the courts for review. Authorities say that once the judicial process is completed, strong enforcement actions will follow.

Deputy CM Chaudhary emphasized that citizen safety and crime control remain the top priority of the Bihar government, further strengthening the good governance model initiated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
