
Nalanda/Rajgir: The strength of the Bihar Police received a major boost on Saturday with the induction of 1,218 newly trained Sub-Inspectors (SIs), including three transgender officers, marking a historic first for the state police force. The officers successfully completed their rigorous training at the Rajgir Police Training Centre (PTC) and will formally join the force after a grand Passing Out Parade.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took the ceremonial salute at the parade, while Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary was also present at the event. The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister arrived at Rajgir by helicopter before proceeding to the training centre.
Diverse and Inclusive Batch
The 2023 batch comprises:
- 779 male Sub-Inspectors
- 436 female Sub-Inspectors
- 3 transgender Sub-Inspectors
In addition, 23 candidates selected under the sports quota are part of the batch, along with four trainee Sub-Inspectors from the Jharkhand cadre who also underwent training at the centre.
The inclusion of transgender officers is being hailed as a landmark step towards inclusivity and equal opportunity in Bihar Police.
Training Focused on Modern Policing
The trainees were not limited to conventional policing methods. Keeping in view evolving crime patterns, they received advanced training in cybercrime and financial fraud, including:
- Investigation of ATM and bank fraud
- Online scam detection
- Cybercrime techniques
- Scientific collection and preservation of digital evidence
From Driving to Firing: Rigorous Physical and Tactical Training
The training programme placed equal emphasis on physical fitness, mental resilience, and tactical readiness. Trainees were trained in:
- Driving, cycling, and horse riding
- Yoga and stress management for better decision-making
- Handling modern weapons
- Firing practice and tactical operations to deal with law-and-order challenges
Key Role in Strengthening Law and Order
PTC Director R. Malar Willy said the deployment of these 1,218 Sub-Inspectors would significantly strengthen law enforcement in the state. He added that the new batch would play a crucial role in tackling cybercrime, economic offences, and rising urban crime.
Postings Soon; Meritorious Trainees to Be Honoured
After the passing out parade, the newly inducted officers will soon be posted across various districts and police units. The Chief Minister also felicitated trainees who demonstrated outstanding performance during the training period.
The parade witnessed the presence of a large number of family members, many of whom proudly watched their children wear the police star on their shoulders for the first time—a moment of pride, achievement, and inspiration.
