Patna, Bihar: A controversial statement by a BJP MLA has sparked political uproar in Bihar following an incident in Parliament where Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury brought her dog to the premises. The remark, perceived as highly inappropriate, has drawn criticism from the opposition and prompted the Bihar State Women’s Commission to take notice.
During an interview with a YouTuber, former minister and BJP MLA Pramod Kumar allegedly said:
“Many women have a habit of sleeping with dogs for self-satisfaction. If you check videos on mobile, you will see many ladies do this. The dog becomes the center, and that is why Renuka Chowdhury brought hers along.”
Opposition Reaction
The statement immediately drew sharp criticism from the RJD. Party leaders questioned whether BJP and its leaders condone such remarks about women, highlighting the insensitive and derogatory nature of the comment. RJD leader Priyanka Bharti also expressed outrage, emphasizing the impact of such statements on women’s dignity.
State Women’s Commission Steps In
The Bihar State Women’s Commission, led by Apsara Mishra, has taken cognizance of the complaint filed regarding the MLA’s comments. The Commission confirmed that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action may be taken against Pramod Kumar if found guilty of making offensive remarks.
This incident has escalated the debate around parliamentary decorum, respect for women, and political accountability, as the BJP faces growing pressure to respond to the controversy.
