Bihar MLA Maithili Thakur Charms Goa with Her First Bhajan Performance Post-Election Victory

Patna/Goa: Fresh from her victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, Maithili Thakur, the newly-elected BJP MLA from Alinagar, Darbhanga, captivated audiences in Goa with her first public devotional performance. Thakur presented a soulful bhajan evening as part of the Sardha Panchashatamotsav festival at the historic Shri Sansthan Gokarn Portuguese Jivottam Math. The event also marked the unveiling of a bronze idol of Lord Ram, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Thousands of Devotees Gathered
Thousands of devotees flocked to witness the performance. Maithili’s melodious and heartfelt renditions of devotional songs enthralled the audience, creating an atmosphere of deep spirituality and celebration. Known for her traditional singing style, she added a unique charm to the sacred event, blending her political milestone with artistic expression.

A Historic Venue with Cultural Significance
The Gokarn Math, established in 1510 along the Kushavati River—considered as sacred as the Ganga—serves as a spiritual haven for devotees unable to make the pilgrimage to Kashi. Originally relocated due to Portuguese oppression, the Math promotes the Dvaita philosophy, emphasizing the eternal distinction between God (Vishnu) and individual souls. Thakur’s performance, set against this backdrop of rich heritage, marked a grand spiritual and cultural debut for the newly-elected legislator.
