Bihar: Major Boost for Mandar Parvat Tourism as New Guest House Project Gets Green Signal

In a significant step towards accelerating the overall development of Banka district, the Bihar government has approved the construction of a modern housing guest house in the historically and religiously significant Mandar Parvat region. The land acquisition and selection process for the ambitious project is set to begin shortly, officials confirmed.

Mandar Parvat, one of Bihar’s most prominent religious and tourist destinations, attracts lakhs of devotees and tourists every year. However, the long-standing lack of adequate accommodation facilities has been a major challenge for visitors. The proposed guest house is expected to bridge this gap, offering much-needed relief to tourists, pilgrims, and visiting officials alike.

The decision was taken during the 68th Foundation Day समारोह-cum-General Body Meeting of the Multi-State Cooperative Land Development Bank, held in Patna on Thursday. The event was jointly inaugurated by Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar and Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Shri Awadhesh Narayan Singh. The programme witnessed the presence of several public representatives, bank officials, and members from across the state.

Legislative Council Members Anil Kumar and Vijay Kumar Singh (from Bhagalpur and Banka), along with housing sector members and institutional office-bearers, played an active role in the discussions. The presence of Smt. Mamta Singh, Chairperson of the Land Mortgage Bank of Bihar and Jharkhand, further underlined the importance of the project.

Raising Banka’s development issues during the programme, district representative Nikhil Bahadur Singh alias Maan Singh strongly welcomed the proposal. He emphasized that Mandar Parvat holds immense religious and tourism potential, yet visitors have long struggled due to the absence of proper lodging facilities. “The construction of a housing guest house is the need of the hour. It will benefit not only administrative officials but also tourists, pilgrims, and other visitors,” he said.

Beyond improving accommodation, the project is expected to give a significant boost to tourism, generate local employment opportunities, and contribute to the region’s socio-economic growth. Officials stated that once the land selection process is completed, construction work will be fast-tracked.

The proposed guest house is being seen as a crucial milestone in Mandar Parvat’s comprehensive development plan. With its completion, Banka district is expected to gain a new identity on Bihar’s tourism map, opening doors to sustained development and enhanced infrastructure in the years to come.
