Bihar Intermediate Exams Begin Today; Traffic Police on High Alert in Patna and Muzaffarpur

Patna/Muzaffarpur: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Intermediate Exams 2026 commenced on Monday amid tight security and special arrangements across the state. The exams will be held at 1,762 centres, with over 13 lakh students appearing.

In Patna district, 73,963 students, including 38,037 girls, will take exams across 84 centres, while in Muzaffarpur, over 58,000 candidates will appear at 81 centres.

Two Shifts Scheduled
As in previous years, the exams will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift begins at 9:30 am, and the second shift starts at 2:00 pm. Students are advised to reach their exam halls at least 30 minutes before the start. On Monday, first-shift candidates will appear for Biology or Philosophy papers, while Arts and Commerce students will take the Economics exam.

Traffic Management in Patna
Patna has set up four model exam centres: Government Girls High School, Bankipur; Government Girls High School, Shastrinagar; Kamla Nehru Girls High School, Yarpur; and Government Girls High School, Gardnibagh. To prevent congestion around these centres, traffic police personnel have been deployed from early morning to manage traffic flow.

Special Strategy in Muzaffarpur
In Muzaffarpur, traffic police have devised a detailed plan to tackle congestion. All designated posts will be manned before 8:00 am, with 127 personnel instructed to maintain strict vigilance. Key traffic points, including Aghoria Bazaar, RDS College, Harisabha Chowk, Akhada Ghat, Kalambagh, and Madipur, will see deployment of additional force to ensure smooth movement.

Active Monitoring and Patrolling
Senior officers will personally patrol and monitor traffic on major routes. The Traffic DSP will oversee operations, while all police station in-charges in urban areas have been instructed to maintain active patrols. A control room will track all activity, sending real-time updates to senior officials.

The administration’s objective is to ensure that students reach their examination centres on time without disruption while maintaining smooth traffic flow in the cities.
