Bihar Election 2025: EVMs Secured with CCTV and Two-Layer Security Ahead of Results

Patna: With the Bihar Assembly election results scheduled for 14 November 2025, the Election Commission has tightened security around the public’s “treasure” — the votes. All Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines have been placed under strict protection in strong rooms across the state.

According to the Election Commission, EVMs from the recent two-phase voting, held on 6 and 11 November, are kept in secure strong rooms under two-tier security arrangements. Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) are responsible for internal security within the strong rooms, while district police manage external security. Additionally, the premises are under 24-hour CCTV surveillance, supplemented by other safety measures.

Control Rooms Established at Each Strong Room
Each strong room has an on-site control room with senior officers on duty at all times. District Election Officers and Returning Officers of the respective constituencies are instructed to inspect the strong rooms daily. Faulty machines identified during mock polls or voting, along with unused EVMs and VVPATs, are segregated and securely stored.

Record Voter Turnout
This election witnessed a historic voter turnout of 67.13%, the highest in Bihar since 1951. Expressing gratitude to citizens for peaceful and dispute-free voting, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited various temples, mosques, gurudwaras, and dargahs across the state. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary stated that the high turnout reflects the growing political awareness among women and various sections of society in Bihar.

The results from 46 counting centers across 38 districts will be announced tomorrow, concluding one of the most closely watched assembly elections in the state’s recent history.
