Bihar Education Minister Warns Officials Over Poor School Cleanliness

Patna: Bihar’s Education Minister Sunil Kumar has issued a stern warning to officials, stating that if government schools in the state are found to be unhygienic or poorly maintained, responsible officers will face strict action. The minister made this announcement while responding to a question raised by BJP MLA Baidyanath Mahato in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

Action Against Negligence

Minister Sunil Kumar clarified that if any discrepancies in school cleanliness are reported or discovered, the contract of the agency responsible for sanitation will be canceled. In addition, the officer in charge who submitted inaccurate or false reports will also be held accountable.

The statement came during the ongoing budget session of the Assembly, where MLA Mahato raised concerns regarding the poor cleanliness observed in some schools of Sitamarhi district.

MLA’s Inspection Reveals Lapses

Baidyanath Mahato, who also serves as the head of the School Committee, stated that during his inspections of several schools in Sitamarhi, he found the cleanliness standards to be subpar. The MLA highlighted the issue in the Assembly, urging the Education Minister to ensure corrective action.

Headquarters to Conduct Thorough Investigation

Taking note of the MLA’s report, Minister Sunil Kumar said that a team from the headquarters will conduct a full investigation into the matter. He emphasized that any lapse in school sanitation would lead to cancellation of the agency’s contract and appropriate action against officials who submitted misleading or incomplete reports.

This announcement underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining hygienic learning environments in Bihar’s government schools and ensuring accountability at every administrative level.
