Patna: In a significant move to ease the lives of senior citizens, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Tuesday that residents aged 80 years or above can now register their land or flats from the comfort of their homes, without having to visit government offices.
Sharing the update on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister said this initiative aligns with the seventh pledge of the “Saat Nishchay-3” program, titled “Sabka Samman – Life Made Easy”, which aims to reduce everyday hardships for all citizens.
“Many elderly citizens face challenges while completing land or flat registration processes. To simplify these procedures, several steps have been taken to make services more accessible,” CM Kumar stated.
Under the new system, senior citizens can avail of all land registration services at home through the Mobile Registration Unit run by the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department. Applications can also be submitted online.
The Chief Minister assured that the registration process will be completed within seven working days, ensuring timely service. Additionally, to prevent complications during property transactions, updated information regarding the land will be made available to both buyers and sellers before registration.
Citizens are encouraged to provide their feedback on this initiative by January 19, following which the department will finalize the implementation details.
This step is seen as a major milestone in making government services senior citizen-friendly, reflecting Bihar’s commitment to ease and efficiency in public service delivery.
