Sheohar (Bihar): In a horrifying incident that has shocked Bihar’s Sheohar district, a newlywed woman allegedly poured nearly five litres of boiling mustard oil on her husband while he was asleep, leaving him critically injured. The incident took place in Minapur Bagha village under the Piprahi police station area, barely 10 days after the couple’s marriage.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Munna, is currently undergoing treatment at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, where doctors have described his condition as serious.
Marriage Took Place on February 3
According to reports, Mohammad Munna got married on February 3, 2026, in a grand ceremony organised by his family. However, soon after the wedding, tensions reportedly began to surface inside the household, turning what was expected to be a joyful beginning into a disturbing family conflict.
Family Claims Bride Refused to Let Husband Stay in Room
Munna’s father, Mohammad Dadij, claimed that the bride’s behaviour appeared unusual from the very beginning. He alleged that she did not allow Munna to sleep in the same room and frequently pushed him out even after traditional rituals were completed.
The family reportedly tried to resolve the issue by calling the woman’s relatives from her parental home and attempting a mutual settlement, but the conflict continued.
Boiling Oil Attack While Husband Slept
On the day of the incident, Munna was reportedly sleeping in his room under a blanket when his wife went to the kitchen, heated a large quantity of mustard oil until it began boiling, and then allegedly poured it over his body.
Munna reportedly screamed in pain, alerting family members, who rushed to the room and found him severely burnt and struggling.
Accused Woman Caught and Handed Over to Police
Following the incident, villagers and family members caught the woman at the scene and handed her over to the police. She has been arrested, and an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the victim was immediately shifted to the burn ward at SKMCH. Doctors stated that he has suffered severe burns and the next few hours remain critical for his survival.
Police Investigating Motive
Police officials confirmed that a detailed inquiry is being conducted to determine the motive behind the brutal attack. Authorities are examining whether the incident was triggered by domestic conflict, psychological issues, or any other underlying cause.
The case has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about rising domestic violence incidents and unresolved marital disputes escalating into extreme crimes.
