In view of the severe cold wave and continuous drop in temperature, the District Magistrate of Bhojpur has ordered the closure of all government and private schools across the district to safeguard the health of children.
According to the official order, all pre-schools, Anganwadi centres, and schools up to Class VIII will remain completely closed from December 22 to December 23. The decision was taken as the district recorded temperatures falling below 10 degrees Celsius, intensifying the cold wave conditions in the region.
Health of Children Cited as Primary Concern
The District Administration stated that the move was necessary to prevent adverse health effects on children due to extreme cold, icy winds, and foggy weather conditions prevailing in Bhojpur, including Ara city.
Revised Timings for Senior Classes
As per the directive, schools conducting classes above Class VIII have been allowed to operate with revised timings, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, to minimize students’ exposure to harsh morning cold.
Orders Issued Under Legal Provisions
District Magistrate-cum-Collector Tanay Sultania issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, directing strict compliance by all concerned officials, school authorities, and education departments.
The administration has warned that any violation of the order will invite strict action. Officials have been instructed to ensure proper implementation across the district.
Cold Wave Continues to Grip the Region
Bhojpur district, like several parts of Bihar, is witnessing intense cold wave conditions, with people resorting to bonfires and warm shelters to cope with the freezing temperatures. The district administration has urged citizens to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary exposure to cold, especially children and the elderly.
