Big Relief for Bihar Teachers: Over 27,000 to Receive Preferred Postings by New Year 2026

Bihar’s teaching community has received a major boost as the newly formed government has confirmed that 27,000+ teachers will finally get postings in the districts of their choice. The long-pending inter-district transfer requests—submitted before the 2025 assembly elections—are now being processed on priority.

Preferred Postings to Be Completed by 31 December

According to the Education Department, 27,171 teachers who applied for inter-district transfers will be posted to their newly allotted schools by 31 December 2025.
The e-Shiksha Kosh portal will allow these teachers to select five preferred blocks between 24 November and 5 December 2025. Block-level allocation will be announced from 10 to 15 December.

ACS of the Education Department, Dr. B. Rajender, has issued detailed guidelines for the entire process.

How Many Teachers Got Their Desired Districts?

Before the state election, a total of 41,684 teachers applied for inter-district transfers. Of these:

  • 24,732 teachers received district postings from their initial options.
  • For the rest, the department sought three additional district options.
  • 9,849 teachers reapplied, and 2,439 teachers were allotted districts this week.

In total, 27,732 teachers have now been assigned districts as per their preferences.

Block-Level Posting to Begin Next

Teachers will now be allocated schools based on:

  • Availability of subject-specific vacancies
  • Their preferred blocks
  • Priority for divyang (disabled) women teachers

Category-wise priority will be:
1. Permanent Teachers → 2. Special Teachers → 3. School Teachers

Allotment May Be Cancelled If Options Not Submitted

If teachers do not submit their five block preferences or if no vacancies exist in the selected blocks, they will be posted in another block within the same district.
However, teachers who fail to provide block options may have their district allotment cancelled, the Education Department has warned.

A Promising Start to 2026

With the new government fast-tracking the transfer process, thousands of teachers across the state are set to begin New Year 2026 with the relief of working closer to home—boosting both morale and classroom productivity.
