Bhopal Youth Returns to Hinduism, Reclaims Original Identity After ‘Reverse Love Jihad’ Ordeal

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Aman Khan, a young man who had been forced to convert to Islam under the pretext of a romantic relationship, has officially returned to Hinduism and reclaimed his original name, Shubham Goswami. The ceremony was held at the Gufa Temple in Bhopal, following traditional Hindu rites.

Background of the Ordeal
Shubham Goswami, a resident of Bhopal, fell in love with a Muslim girl. Misled into the relationship, he was coerced into adopting Islamic practices, including attending religious congregations and consuming beef, and was sent to a religious group for 180 days. When he resisted permanent conversion, the girl allegedly filed a false rape case against him in 2022, resulting in Shubham spending several months in jail. During this period, his forced conversion was formalized, and he was given the name Aman Khan.

Return to Hinduism
After being released from jail, Shubham expressed his desire to return to his original faith. With assistance from Madhya Pradesh Cooperation Minister Vishwas Sarang, he formally reverted to Hinduism in a ceremony at the Gufa Temple, where traditional rituals and a Mundan (head shaving) ceremony were performed. Following the ceremony, Aman Khan officially became Shubham again.

Legal Action and Justice
Minister Sarang confirmed that FIRs have been filed against the perpetrators responsible for the forced conversion. Three accused individuals have been sent to jail. Sarang emphasized that the state government is actively campaigning against such cases of “Love Jihad” and will provide legal assistance to victims. He also revealed that Shubham had faced life threats and coercion during his ordeal, including being forced to consume beef and sent to religious groups for conversion.

Shubham Speaks Out
Speaking after the ceremony, Shubham said, “I am happy to return to my original faith. During that time, I was forced into practices against my will. Now, I will continue to live in the Sanatan Dharma.”
