Bhopal Woman Pays ₹1.5 Crore to ‘Buy’ Her Lover from His Wife: A Real-Life Tale Reminiscent of the Film Judaai

Bhopal: A remarkable case recently emerged in the Bhopal Family Court, evoking memories of the 1990s blockbuster film Judaai. In an unusual arrangement for family peace, a 54-year-old woman reportedly paid ₹1.5 crore to her lover’s wife to legally acquire her partner. The woman is 12 years older than her lover, who is a government officer.

Government Officer at the Center of the Story
The case involves a 42-year-old officer working in a central government department. The officer reportedly began an extramarital relationship with his 54-year-old colleague, leading him to neglect his wife and two young daughters. The home atmosphere grew increasingly tense due to recurring disputes.

Impact on Children
The ongoing domestic conflicts took a heavy toll on the officer’s daughters, aged 16 and 12. The elder daughter, struggling with mental stress, courageously brought the matter to the family court. During counseling sessions, the husband candidly admitted he was unhappy in his marriage and found emotional peace only with his colleague.

A Practical Resolution
Seeking a dignified resolution, the wife set clear terms: for the financial security and future of her daughters, she would agree to the separation if she received a luxury duplex and ₹27 lakh in cash. Astonishingly, the officer’s lover accepted the terms without hesitation, stating that she did not want the partner’s family to suffer and was willing to invest her life savings for this arrangement.

Expert Opinions
Family counselors believe that when emotions fade, a forced union can be more harmful than separation. While unconventional, the decision is seen as logical for the children’s mental health and financial security. When a relationship becomes burdensome, parting ways peacefully is sometimes the best solution.
