Bhopal Protest: Mayor Malti Rai’s Residence Surrounded, Hoardings Defaced Amid Cow Meat Smuggling Allegations

Bhopal: Anger erupted among Hindu organizations in Bhopal over allegations of cow meat smuggling and illegal slaughterhouse operations. On Wednesday, activists from Bajrang Dal and the Hindu Utsav Samiti staged a strong protest outside the residence of Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai. They demanded her resignation and defaced hoardings and nameplates with ink.

The protestors accused the municipal administration of allowing a large smuggling network to operate unchecked. Demonstrators symbolically drew a beard on the mayor’s photograph while chanting “Mulla Malti Rai,” as a form of protest against alleged inaction in the network of illegal activities.

Protest Outside Mayor’s Residence

Activists surrounded Mayor Malti Rai’s residence, performing recitations of the Hanuman Chalisa outside the gates. Bajrang Dal members smeared ink on the mayor’s photograph displayed on hoardings and her nameplate. The protest was organized without official permission, prompting ACP Ankita Khaterkar to announce that legal action would be taken under relevant sections of the BNS Act.

Calls for Resignation and Continued Movement

Demonstrators demanded that Mayor Malti Rai resign and warned that their agitation would continue until strict action is taken against all individuals involved in the alleged smuggling network. Slogans calling for the mayor’s resignation were written on the walls of her residence, and protestors emphasized that the illegal operations could not have been carried out without the tacit support of the municipal corporation.

Hindu Utsav Samiti and allied organizations stated that the city has long been under the influence of an organized cow meat smuggling network. They vowed to continue their protest until the entire network and its masterminds are brought to justice.
