Bhopal: In a shocking incident highlighting rising audacity among local criminals, three unidentified bike-borne assailants snatched the mobile phone of Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla’s personal assistant (PA) in Bhopal on Tuesday night. The police have launched a manhunt to track down the perpetrators.
Incident Details
The incident occurred between 8:30 and 9:00 PM, near JP Hospital, when 51-year-old PA Sudhir Kumar Dubey was taking an evening walk. The attackers quickly snatched his mobile and fled before Dubey could react. Despite raising an alarm, the assailants disappeared into the night.
CCTV Footage Proves Ineffective
Police efforts to identify the suspects were hindered due to poor visibility in CCTV footage. The stolen phone’s last recorded location was in the Karond and Nishatpura areas. Authorities are reviewing footage and conducting searches across the city.
VIPs Increasingly Targeted
This is not the first time criminals in Bhopal have targeted VIPs. Earlier incidents include a theft at the Deputy Collector’s residence and the snatching of a mobile from IG Intelligence Dr. Ashish (IPS) on 24 September.
Police Response
TT Nagar SHO Gaurav Singh confirmed that a formal complaint has been filed. Police are intensifying searches and urge anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation.
The incident underscores growing concerns about security for VIPs and ordinary citizens alike in the city, prompting calls for enhanced vigilance and patrolling.
