Bhopal, December 22, 2025: The much-awaited Bhopal Metro officially began operations on Sunday, ushering in a new dawn for the city’s commuters. The inaugural ride was not just a journey but a celebration, captivating the hearts of children, students, and working professionals alike. Metro coaches were filled with music, dance, and selfies, creating an atmosphere of unbridled joy and excitement.
A Festive Mood Inside the Metro
The interior of the metro was buzzing with energy. Young passengers sang songs, danced, and exchanged smiles with strangers, turning the ride into a communal celebration. Software engineer Raghav remarked, “At one point, the entire coach was singing together; strangers were laughing like old friends.” Priya, another passenger, captured every moment on her phone, saying, “I took countless selfies and reels to remember this special day.” Even stations were transformed into selfie hotspots, echoing laughter and chatter.

Thousands Partook in the Inaugural Ride
Om Prakash, a lifelong train traveler, shared his experience: “Trains have always been about traveling from one city to another, but this metro ride felt special—like a moment I wanted to cherish. I never imagined seeing Bhopal from this angle. This first ride will remain etched in my memory.” Within just a few hours, an estimated five to six thousand passengers took their first metro journey, making the inauguration a city-wide celebration.
